Traveling to Champaign-Urbana You can fly into Chicago (O'Hare Int'l or Midway) or directly to Champaign-Urbana (Willard).
If flying into Champaign-Urbana, take a cab to your desired destination.
If flying into Chicago, you have two options:
By Train: Go to Union Station, which is a direct one hour subway ride from O'hare. Or a much shorter cab ride from O'hare. From Union Station, there are several daily Amtrak trains to Champaign-Urbana. This is a very lovely option, it takes 2 - 3 hours. Buy your ticket ahead of time, and arrive at least 15 minutes before the train departs. The Champaign train station is less than 10 minutes from Urbana, and it is only a $5 cab ride to the center.
By Bus: There are at least 3 bus lines that run direct from O'hare and Midway airports to Champaign-Urbana. Most routes take 3 - 4 hours and have several drop off points in Champaign-Urbana including: the train terminal, the bus terminal or points on the University Campus. The "CSR" stop on campus is an easy 15 minute walk from the Institute.
